New Calling

Adam and I have been released from the primary! We are no longer Sunbeam teachers. I didn't get called to anything new (thank goodness), but Adam did. Adam is now the assistant or co-leader (we don't exactly know yet) in the 11 year old scouting program. He's pretty excited!

Medical issues/news

First of all, when I was pregnant, my thyroid wasn't producing enough hormones to support me and the baby. So I was put on medication to regulate my thyroid. Now that I'm not pregnant I went back for more blood work to see if my medication needed some adjusting. Well, my results are back and I no longer have to take thyroid medication! YAY!!! I'm awful at remembering pills! So it's a good thing I don't have to take anymore! Second, I have had a killer sore throat for about a week now and it's just awful!!! It hurts to swallow, it hurts to eat and it hurts to talk. I have never had a sore throat this bad before. While I was at the doctors for my thyroid I had him check my throat for me and he tested me fore strep. I don't have strep thank goodness but I do have viral blisters on the back of my throat. The only advice I got was drink plenty of liquids and wash my hands and don't cough on anyone. I've gotten cough drops and throat spray and they only help my throat for a minute at the most. I'm starting to get really sick of my throat!
Logan has been spitting up a lot for the past couple weeks. We've been trying different formulas to see if there's one he likes better and he doesn't like any of them. Our latest formula was a soy formula and he does a lot better on that one but he still spits up a lot. You can tell his tummy doesn't feel good because he'll be super fussy after he eats. So I called his doctor and we went in to see her. She gave us a formula to try for a week. If this formula doesn't work she said it's probably reflux and he'll get a medication for it. The evening we tried this formula we could tell this was NOT going to work! He cried the whole time we fed him the bottle and the look on his face was just saying, "What in the heck are you giving me mom?! It doesn't feel good!" So we just went back to the soy for the time being. I called the doctor back and she's out of town for 5 days. So I left a message with the on-call doctor and I haven't been called back yet. I feel so bad for my little man! I can just tell he doesn't feel good! So we'll see if I get a call back tomorrow.
On a happier note, the past two nights have been WONDERFUL!!! The first night Logan only woke up twice to be fed and went right back to sleep afterward. Then last night he only got up ONCE!!!! I LOVED IT!!!! :D We're crossing our fingers for three nights in a row. Pray for us! Hee hee!

Easter Day

On Easter we went over to Adam's parents house for a couple hours. We just hung around and my two nieces did a little easer egg hunt. It was so cute! They had matching dresses and they looked adorable! After Adam's parents house we went to my parents house for dinner. This dinner was for Easter and my birthday combined. We had roast beef and mashed potatoes and it was super yummy!!! For dessert we had cake that I offered to make. I tried out a frosting recipe for it and it turned out pretty good! My grandparents came for dinner as well and so I got my four generation picture with them! How lucky is Logan to have two pictures with four generations?! Easter was really good and I enjoyed the time we spent with family.

Anya and the Reflection of Light

Anytime we're on our IPods in the bedroom, the sun always hits it and reflects the light on the wall right above her head. We decided to record her trying to catch it. It's pretty funny!

4 generations

After looking at my mom's genealogy blog I wanted to do a four generation picture with Adam's grandma and mom and with my grandparents and mom. I haven't done my grandparents yet, but I have Adam's grandma.

My little boy is finally here!!!

After being pestered about the blog, I'm finally posting!!! Logan James was born on March 22nd at 6:01 PM. He was 6 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long. We have been to the doctors since and he was last 7 lbs 5 oz and 21 inches long. He's growing so much already!!! I had been going back and forth between bed rest and light duty for weeks before he was born because of my blood pressure. I kept getting headaches that would last a long time and they told me to call if it didn't get any better. So on Saturday, the 21st, I had a baby shower that afternoon and my head was hurting. So after my shower I called the doctors and they said to come in and get monitored. I was a little irritated because I had been monitored before and been sent home. So I was not wanting to go in there just to be sent home! Well, when they hooked me up to the monitors and all that fun stuff my blood pressure was getting really really high! It got up to 176/ninety something! It was getting bad! So they kept me there and told me they were going to induce me. They inserted a medicine in me that stayed there for 12 hours to help my cervix soften.
12 hours later put us at 8 AM on Sunday, the 22nd. They were going to start pitocin to get my labor started but I started to go into labor on my own after that medicine, so they just did a tiny bit of pitocin to help me along a little bit more. I was dilated to a 3 when I asked for the epidural. When they put it in, all I felt was a little poke in my back and nothing after that. It wasn't bad at all! I think that was the part that scared me the most when thinking about labor and the fact that it didn't hurt at all made me very happy! It felt so weird being that numb!!! It felt like I was sitting on a squishy blob and I didn't like that but it was better than the pain! At one point Logan's heart rate started dropping and they started talking about a c-section. I started getting very scared and I got a little teary eyed.
While we were waiting for the doctor to come in and approve the c-section they checked me to see how far dilated I was and I was at a 9 and Logan had moved down the birth canal. I had dilated from a 5 to a 10 within a half hour. That's why his heart rate had dropped. The fear of a c-section was gone and I started feeling pressure. The doctor was in helping someone else give birth so while we waiting for her the nurse had me do some small pushes to help stretch me out so I hopefully wouldn't rip. Once the doctor came in it was about 10 minutes of pushing and he was out! Once I saw him, my heart melted and I got emotional! It was the most amazing moment of my life! How I could love someone so much I didn't know, but that's how I felt! I loved this little guy that came out of me so much! It was an amazing feeling to have him laying on my chest! I wouldn't trade this experience for the world! I love my new family!
This is him on my chest right after I pushed him out! I love this picture!!!

Another great grocery shopping trip!!!

I just love sharing how much I'm saving on groceries these days! I just got back from Albertsons and spent $41.85 but saved $55.61! I love it!!!! I got 46 items and if you divide that into what I spent you figure I spent about $.91 on each item! It's awesome! My food storage is even building up a little bit. I actually have food on my food storage shelves.
