It has been a whirlwind of a year! Adam finished up his Army training and came home the end of January. It was a rough five months as a single mom, but I somehow made it through. I'm so grateful for the family that helped me out while Adam was gone. I'll give a little recap of what went on in the last year.
Adam left for basic training on August 23rd. About a month before my due date. I had a doctor's appointment shortly after Adam left and my blood pressure was getting a little high. I was stressed out pretty bad because Adam wasn't there. She told me that if my blood pressure was still high at my appointment the next week that she didn't know if she wanted me to stay pregnant any longer. Sure enough, my appointment came around and I had high blood pressure again, but this time I had protein in my urine. So I had turned toxic. I was sent to labor and delivery to be monitored and have some blood tests run. They ended up keeping me there and induced me three weeks before my due date. I hadn't talked to Adam since August 24th, so he had no idea what was going on. I called my sister and my mom and let them know what was going on so they could come and be with me at the hospital. I was induced August 31st. On September 1st, at 3:45 am, Evan Caleb was born weighing at 6 pounds 5 ounces and at 19 inches long. He was a healthy little boy. My sister cut the cord and my mom went to give him his first bath. It was bitter sweet. I was so happy that Evan was here safe and sound, but sad that Adam couldn't be there. Adam's very first phone call to me while in basic was on August 31st that night. I told him I was in the hospital having a baby and completely shocked him!
In November, Amy and I took the two boys to Georgia to see Adam graduate basic training. I am forever going to be grateful for my sister and all that she has done for me. Without her, I would've been a complete basket case and would've broken down so many times! I'm glad she came with me to Georgia. It was great seeing Adam after three months! Adam got to see Evan for the first time at 3 months old. He was so happy to see his boys! Especially Logan! The two of them were inseparable! It took Logan a minute to figure out, oh, this is daddy! We got to spend two days with Adam and then we were headed back home while he went off to AIT in South Carolina.
Adam got to come home for a little over two weeks for Christmas. It was great having him home for the holidays. While he was home, we took some family pictures. They turned out so cute! January 4th, Adam had to go back to South Carolina for another month to finish up with AIT. Then he was FINALLY home for good at the end of January. We were grateful to have him back! It took a while to get back in the swing of things. I was so used to doing things by myself, I didn't realize I had another set of hands to help me.
At the end of January, I transferred jobs from the Farmington DLD to the Administrative Offices in West Valley. It has been a welcome and wonderful change. I'm enjoying my new job and I'm even work neighbors with Adam. We can meet up for lunch if we want to every day. It's great knowing he's just right there.
Logan turned three on March 22nd. I can't believe I have a three year old! He's getting so big. We took him to the zoo that day and he had a blast. After the zoo, we headed to Chuck-E-Cheese for a family party to celebrate Logan's birthday. Everyone had a good time. As busy as that day was, I'm glad I did it. Logan had fun and I'm glad I was able to give that to him.
Logan is now being potty trained. He is doing pretty good at it. He is starting to let us know when he has to go to the bathroom. We've had several accidents, but more successes! Thank goodness!
Evan is now almost 10 months old. He is crawling around like a pro now! He has two teeth, both on the bottom. He hates vegetables (he's just like his dad) and loves fruits. I love his little personality!
April 28th, we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. What a great 5 years it's been. I couldn't think of anyone better to spend that time with. Adam is the love of my life! To celebrate, we left the boys with my sister and spent a week in Disneyland. We stayed in the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. It was a BEAUTIFUL hotel! Our room had a balcony view of California Adventures. From our room, we could see Grizzly River Rapids (it was dead straight in front of us), Hollywood Tower Hotel, Soarin' Over California, the new Car's Land backdrop (wasn't opened yet) and even Space Mountain. We turned into little kids again! We had so much fun and hated to leave, but were so happy to be home with our sweet little boys.
At the end of May, we took the boys to Colorado to see Adam's sister and her family. Logan and his cousin Hayden had a blast together while Dylan and Evan weren't quite sure what to think of each other. :) We went to the Colorado Springs Zoo and the Garden of the God's park. We had several YUMMY home made dinners from our lovely brother-in-law. It was nice to just relax and hang out with family. We hope to go there again in the near future.
That's our year in a nutshell. It's been fun and hectic, but I wouldn't change it for anything! Here's to another year of fun and adventures!
